IGNOU Assignments 2026-27: Download Current Question Papers by Course Code

Last reviewed: 25 August 2026.

Answer first: IGNOU students should download the current assignment question paper for their exact course code and valid session from official IGNOU assignment resources. Do not use an old PDF simply because the course code is the same.

What this guide covers

This page is specifically about finding and downloading the correct IGNOU assignment question paper. It is different from our assignment submission guide, which covers cover pages, submission, status and marks.

Official assignment sources

SourceUse
IGNOU assignment guidance pageCurrent instructions for locating assignments by course code.
IGNOU Web Services – AssignmentsProgramme-wise/current assignment repository.
Programme/School assignment PDFFinal authority for validity, submission date, marks/weightage and course-specific instructions.

How to download the correct assignment

  1. Open your current programme registration/status and note the exact course code.
  2. Open IGNOU's current assignment resource.
  3. Choose the current/new assignments section where available.
  4. Search the exact course code, including zeros and hyphens.
  5. Open the PDF and check the course title.
  6. Confirm the assignment's validity/session before writing answers.
  7. Read the submission date and any school/programme-specific instruction printed inside the PDF.
  8. Save the PDF with the course code and session in the filename.

Why the validity line matters

IGNOU assignment PDFs are not all valid for the same period. Some are valid for one TEE cycle; others cover January and July admission cycles or more than one TEE. An official PDF may state, for example, separate submission dates for December 2026 and June 2027. Therefore, the PDF's own validity statement is more important than the year visible in a Google result or an old student group message.

Course-code check

CheckWhy it matters
Course codeAssignments are course-specific; one wrong digit can lead to a different subject.
Course titleConfirms you opened the intended paper.
Programme/sessionSome assignments are tied to specific admission cycles.
TEE validityShows which examination cycle the assignment supports.
Submission dateCan differ by school/programme and can later be extended.
Submission locationStudy Centre, Regional Centre or another instructed route may differ.

December 2026 assignment dates: do not assume one universal date

Different official assignment PDFs can carry different submission schedules. For example, some 2026 assignments specify 30 September 2026 for the December 2026 TEE, while other programmes may use a different date such as 15 October. Always read the date printed in your own current assignment PDF and then check whether IGNOU has issued a later extension.

What to do if you cannot find your course code

  • Check that you copied the code exactly from your registration/course list.
  • Search both the main current-assignment page and your School's assignment section.
  • Wait for the search box to load fully on IGNOU's page.
  • Try the course code without extra spaces.
  • If a current assignment genuinely is not available, contact the School/Regional Centre rather than using an old PDF.

Old assignment vs current assignment

Old assignment PDFs can be useful for practice, but they should not be submitted for a current session unless the PDF explicitly states that it remains valid. Questions, weightage, course structure and submission dates can change.

Before writing answers

  • Read the instructions printed in the assignment PDF.
  • Check expected word limits and marks for each question.
  • Use your own words and follow programme-specific presentation rules.
  • Write the correct enrolment number, programme and course code on the response sheet.
  • Keep a copy of the completed assignment and obtain submission proof where applicable.

Download-and-file workflow

A simple folder structure prevents mistakes: create one folder for the active session, then one subfolder per course code. Save the official question PDF, your completed response, submission receipt and any email/portal confirmation together. This makes it much easier to prove submission later if assignment marks are delayed.

Common mistakes

MistakeSafer approach
Using the first PDF found on GoogleOpen the official IGNOU resource and verify validity.
Ignoring a zero in the course codeCopy the exact code from registration status/programme guide.
Assuming all assignments share one deadlineRead your own PDF and later extension notices.
Submitting an old assignmentUse only a PDF valid for your session/TEE.
No copy or receiptKeep the question paper, answer copy and submission proof.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I download IGNOU assignments for 2026-27?

Use IGNOU's official current-assignment resources and search by your exact course code.

Can I submit a 2025 assignment in 2026?

Only if the official PDF explicitly states that it remains valid for your session/TEE. Otherwise use the current assignment.

How do I know which assignment is mine?

Match the course code, course title, programme/session and validity statement with your registration details.

Is 30 September 2026 the deadline for every December TEE assignment?

No. Some official PDFs use that date, but programme-specific schedules can differ. Check your own PDF and any later official extension.

What if my assignment PDF is not available?

Check the School/current-assignment repository and contact the School or Regional Centre rather than submitting an old paper without confirmation.

Can previous-year assignments be used for practice?

Yes, for practice, but not automatically for current submission.

Should I keep the assignment question PDF?

Yes. Keep it with your response and submission proof until marks are updated.

Can the assignment deadline be extended?

Yes. Treat an extension as valid only when IGNOU publishes it officially.
